Meat Sauce

2 medium onions (minced)
1/4 cup olive or vegetable oil
2 – 28 oz cans tomatoes
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
2 bay leaves
Garlic salt
2 1/2 lb ground chuck
1 – 12 oz can tomato paste
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp basil

  1. Brown onions and garlic lightly in oil
  2. Add meat and brown lightly
  3. Add remaining ingredients plus 2 cups water
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat
  5. Simmer uncovered for 2 hours
  6. Remove bay leaves

 

Lasagne

1 lb curly edged lasagne
1 1/2 lb mozzarella cheese (sliced)
1 1/2 cup grated parmesan
3 lb block cheese (sliced) — Lancashire or Cheshire

 

  1. Cook lasagne as on package
  2. Run under cold water and place on wax paper
  3. Pan – 17 x 12 x 3 (or smaller)
  4. 1st layer sauce
  5. 2nd layer noodles
  6. 3rd layer cheese
  7. Repeat
  8. Set pan on large baking sheet and bake 350 for 50-60 minutes
  9. Cover top with foil when reheating
